Velo Co. started with Marcus and a clear conviction: that haircare in Royal Oak deserved something more intentional. Not just a service, but an experience — a space where technique meets genuine human connection.
In 2013, he opened the doors to what was then a single-chair studio on the corner of Main and Fourth Street. The name? Velo — from the Latin for "to unveil." Because Marcus believed that the best haircut does not change who you are. It reveals who you already are.
More than a decade later, that philosophy still lives in every shampoo, every snip, every conversation in our chairs.
In a world of fast appointments and conveyor-belt service, Velo Co. is a deliberate pause. A space where the music is right, the consultation is real, and the finish is always worth the wait.

Nia joins as the second stylist. The studio expands to four chairs, and the first shampoo bowl is installed in-house.
Elena joins as Color Director, bringing a refined editorial approach. The color program becomes the fastest-growing service at Velo Co.
Velo Co. relocates to its current home — a full boutique studio with eight stations, a dedicated color bar, and a designed lounge.
Like all small businesses, we adapted. Curbside consultations, safety-first protocols, and a renewed appreciation for community kept us going.
